Description: THIS is what a Taisho kimono looks like. People like to throw that around because of a red lining; but there's no red lining here. It may have had one once, but what makes this a Taisho piece is this wonderful mirrored design that's a bit of a leftover from the late Meiji period. The Taisho period was a bit of a blink in history, and most people that identify a kimono as being 'Taisho,' mean to be saying 'early Showa.' We also got some chonkasaurus crests going on this baby; poor Washington is feeling a bit small in comparison to them. The paint work on this piece is really neat and interesting; not the usual. You usually get the whole pine broughs, some frilly flowers and some cranes flapping around the scene, but you don't *often* get raging waves with cranes. This is supposed to be either a bridal kimono or a mother of the bride kimono! There are some creases on the sleeves, those will go away; when I got this piece in, someone had tacked them up really crudely and hastily and I couldn't stop myself from undoing that so you could behold these wonderful, dramatic sleeves. We do have some condition issues with this girl, there's a lot of migratory black dye and the UV damage that often happens with this era of tomesode. There's also some mixed staining on the cranes; please see photos. It's still an awesome piece and great for display. There's a few loose stitches here and there, but there's no rips or tears and no bad smells. The lining isn't terrible, but there's some sense of use to this piece for sure. Great display piece. I am open to offers on this piece, but this isn't your typical kurotomesode. <3 Length: 151cmYuki: 64cmFrontwidth: 22cm Backwidth: 29cmSleeve length: 58cm I only ship within the continental US + Alaska + Hawaii. I cannot ship to APO/military bases overseas. I do not deal with customs forms at all, this is just a side thing I do for enjoyment, and international shipping just gives me really big anxiety. I also do not have a printer and overseas prepaid labels require a printer and cannot be generated with a QR code which is how I ship all my packages via USPS. Thank you for understanding.
