Description: This uncirculated 1 Argentinian Austral on a 1,000 Peso Argentino note is a provisional austral note introduced by the Central Bank of Argentina in 1985. It is an aqua note that is part of the series D, bears the signatures of President Juan Jose Alfredo Concepcion and General Manager Horacio Anibal Alonso, and measures 155 mm x 75 mm. Its obverse side contains a boxed 1/UN AUSTRAL overprint, Spanish text, and a portrait of Jose de San Martin. Its reverse side contains another boxed 1/UN AUSTRAL overprint, the national coat of arms, and a depiction of General Jose de San Martin with his army crossing the Andes in January 1817 from the painting “El Paso de los Andes” (Crossing the Andes) by Augusto Ballerini. Though the note does not have a security thread, it has a sunburst pattern watermark. The note was demonetized in 1988.
