Description: 2 Gallon Stoneware Jar made by "T. F. Reppert, Greensboro, Pa." This Pennsylvania pot dates between 1880 and 1884. It has nice blue flourishes, and the stenciling states “T F Reppert Manufacturer Greensboro PA 2”. A nice example of 1880’s Pennsylvania pottery. Thomas Reppert made pottery solo in Greensboro from 1884-1890 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 157-159). This beauty features a Top to Bottom Decoration. From the top down is a broad stripe under the rim, a wavy stripe at the shoulder, the company advertising surrounding a floral filling the body, a freehand capacity number 2 framed by leaves, and a broad straight stripe at the bottom. All the decoration is complete and crisp. Stands approx 12" tall - actually 11 1/4” on one side and 11 3/4” of the other …meaning the top is not exactly level- as it is handmade Excellent Condition. A 1/2" chip at the base, see photos. That's it! No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
