Description: Bicycle Poster Olympic Cycling 1976 Trials Road and Track June 2-7 Saranac Lake, NY and June 15-19 Northbrook Illinois. This race decided who would ride for the U.S. Cycling Team in the Olympics 1000m Time Trial, one month later. Robert (Bob) Vehe was the only cyclist to represent the United States in the "Men's Track Time Trial" at the 1976 Summer Olympic Games in Montreal. On July 20th1976, 30 participants from 30 nations, with each nation limited to one cyclist. It would be the 12th appearance of the event since 1896. The event was a Time Trial on the Track with each cyclist competing separately to achieve the fastest time. Each cyclist raced one kilometre from a standing start.
