Description: BLUE THUNDER – ASTRODIVISION Police – Los Angeles California This embroidered patch is only and exclusively available from our site. This is the fictional patch worn by the character of Officer Frank Murphy (Roy Scheider) in the 1983 film “BLUE THUNDER” Although the department is unnamed in the film, both the agency and the patch were designed based on the Los Angeles Police Department Aerial Support Unit. The patch is approximately four and half inches wide by three and half inches high and is gray with black lettering (ASTRODIVISION POLICE) and trim with a yellow center seal with the emblem of a two-bladed rotor with wings on either side. You will notice that the film never refers to the “LAPD” by name, however the “ASTRO” acronym was an actual title used by the “LAPD” for its Air Support Unit (Air Support To Regular Operations). The patch is brand new and has never been used and can be displayed or worn (for legal purposes!) conventions, costume, etc. This patch is a replica and has not been “screen or production used”. These patches are intended for collecting purposes only and do not convey any legal authority to the possessor. If you collect or like fictional movie or television police department patches, be sure to check out my other listing to include; Longmire (Absaroka County Sheriffs, Department of Indian Affairs Reservation Police), Blue Thunder (ASTRODIVISION Police), The Rookies SCPD (Southern California Police Department), Stephen King's The Dead Zone (Castle County) and Needful Things (Castle Rock Sheriff's Department) and Cop Land's Garrison Sheriff's Department and the Jessup County Sheriff's Department from Mississippi Burning.
