Description: Brave Girls: The Story of Girl Scouts and Girl Guides in the Underground, Girl Scouts National Organization (1947). RARE first edition, not a facsimile. Harriett Philmus collaborated with Lady Baden-Powell and a group of Girl Scout leaders from 10 different countries to write the compelling story of Girl Scouts and their role in the resistance movement during WWII. This slim little book shows moderate signs of wear and age, including fading and scuff marks on the front & back covers, especially along the edges. Previously a library book, it contains multiple markings as well as a card holder and date stamps in the back (see pictures). It has been reinforced with brown tape, which is starting to detach in places. The hinges are creased but intact, and the binding is secure. The interior pages are lightly browned but unmarked, and the text is clear and sharp. Your purchase helps support the Lexington Public Library (Lexington, KY).
