Description: DATING TO 1790 - 1810 FASHIONED OF A VERY THIN COTTON AND IS LAVISHLY EMBROIDERED ALL ACROSS THE BOTTOM WITH THE LARGE LEAVES HAVING NET INSERTION THAT IS EMBROIDERED IN THE CENTER. THE LEAF IN THE BOTTOM CORNER ASIDE THE NOTE IS SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT IN THE NET EMBROIDERY, NOTE THE IMAGE. THERE IS A PENNED NOTE STITCHED TO THE BOTTOM CORNER THAT READS: FATHER’S BABY DRESS EMBROIDERED BY HIS MOTHER. THE TOP IS A DRAWSTRING AND I AM COMPLETELY UNCERTAIN IF THIS WAS AS IT WAS MADE OR IF IT WAS LATER PRODUCED INTO AN APRON, BOTH ARE POSSIBILITIES. CONDITION: THERE IS SOME LIGHT YELLOWED AGE COLOR WITH TWO FINGERTIP STAINS THAT ARE VERY FAINT IN THE CENTER WITH A HOLE IN THE VERY CENTER NEAR THE TOP. A DARK SURFACE STAINING IS SEEN ON THE MIDDLE LEFT SIDE ABOVE THE NOTE AND THE TOP LEFT CORNER HAS AN L SHAPED PERIOD MEND WITH REMNANTS OF MASKING TAPE, AS PICTURED.
