Description: This is an amazing survivor. A rare early American portrait frame with one of the best original surfaces i have seen. The 4 1/2" wide gilded molding has a soft, buttery patina and is in amazing original condition with only minor wear. So many of these early portrait frames have been overpainted or suffered water damage with significant gesso losses. The frame measures 33 1/2 x 38 3/8 with a 25 1/2 x 30 1/2 rabbet.
