Illustrated with a frontispiece portrait of the author and further illustrations. CONDITION Rebound in full straight up grain morocco binding with five raised bands, gilt tooling to spine and extremities, gilt to edges, renewed marbled endpapers. Externally lovely with minor shelf wear only, back strip lightly faded. Internally, firmly bound. Previous owner's gift inscription to recto front blank leaf dated 1877, from Robert Woodhouse to his brother Alfred C Woodhouse, whose bookplate features to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Minor odd spotting to occasional leaf, pages otherwise generally very clean throughout.
