The life of Jesus is primarily outlined in the four canonical gospels, which includes his genealogy and nativity, public ministry, passion, prophecy, resurrection and ascension.[2][3] Other parts of the New Testament – such as the Pauline epistles which were likely written within 20 to 30 years of each other,[4] and which include references to key episodes in the life of Jesus, such as the Last Supper,[2][3][5] and the Acts of the Apostles (1:1–11), which includes more references to the Ascension episode than the canonical gospels[6][7] also expound upon the life of Jesus. In addition to these biblical texts, there are extra-biblical texts that Christians believe make reference to certain events in the life of Jesus, such as Josephus on Jesus and Tacitus on Christ. In the gospels, the ministry of Jesus starts with his Baptism by John the Baptist. Jesus came to the Jordan River where he was baptized by John the Baptist, after which he fasted for forty days and nights in the Judaean Desert. This early period also includes the first miracle of Jesus in the Marriage at Cana. The principle locations for the ministry of Jesus were Galilee and Judea, with some activities also taking place in nearby areas such as Perea and Samaria. Jesus' activities in Galilee include a number of miracles and teachings. Jean Joseph François Poujoulat (28 January 1808, Montferrand-la-Fare – 5 January 1880, Paris), was a French historian and journalist. Poujoulat was co-author with Joseph François Michaud of the Bibliothèque des Croisades, and traveled with him through European and Asiatic Turkey in the study of the scenes of the Crusades. On their return, they published in 1832-35 the Correspondence d'Orient. An ardent royalist, and bitterly opposed to the advent of Louis-Philippe to the throne in 1830, he made himself felt in politics through contributions to the Quotidienne. Having cultivated the fear of republics among the middle classes of France, he helped prepare the ground for the coup d'état of Napoleon in 1851; but was determined to war with the new government of Louis-Philippe, through the columns of the Union, the Revue des Deux Mondes, and other journals. His Histoire de Jérusalem, a religious and philosophical study, was crowned by the French Academy in 1840-42; his Histoire de St. Augustin in 1844 was similarly praised. In 1863, he published a review of Renan's Life of Jesus. He was a prolific author of works, mainly on religious history and its current discussions. In "The French Revolution" (orig. ed. 1856) he announce "pour l'honneur de notre pays et la vérité, les crimes ne furent pas de la révolution française". The first legitimist enforced both chateaubriand and tocqueville so prised by our "demi-suivants" but "vrais cuistres" selon the expression of Bourdieu. Completely unknown by the official thuriferaires of the capital (Furet, Nolte, Courtois). Gage of serious Limoges (/lɪˈmoʊʒ/,[4][5] US also /liːˈ-/,[4][6] French: [limɔʒ] ⓘ;[4] Occitan: Lemòtges, locally Limòtges [liˈmɔdzes]) is a city and commune, and the prefecture of the Haute-Vienne department in west-central France.[7] It was the administrative capital of the former Limousin region. Situated on the first western foothills of the Massif Central, Limoges is crossed by the river Vienne, of which it was originally the first ford crossing point. The second most populated town in the New Aquitaine region after Bordeaux, a university town, an administrative centre and intermediate services with all the facilities of a regional metropolis, it has an urban area of 323,789 inhabitants in 2018.[3] The inhabitants of the city are called the Limougeauds. Founded around 10 BC under the name of Augustoritum, it became an important Gallo-Roman city. During the Middle Ages Limoges became a large city, strongly marked by the cultural influence of the Abbey of Saint-Martial, where the Dukes of Aquitaine were invested and crowned. From the 12th century onwards, its enamels were exported throughout the Christian world. In 1765, during the industrial revolution, the discovery of a deposit of kaolin in the Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche region enabled the development of the Limoges porcelain industry. It is sometimes nicknamed "the red city" or "the Rome of socialism" because of its tradition of voting on the left and the workers' events it experienced from the 19th to the beginning of the 20th century. Since the 1990s, the city has had a basketball club, Limoges CSP, which has won several French championships and the European championship in 1993. Because of its heritage policy, it has held the label "City of Art and History" since 2008. Economic activities include butchering, electrical equipment for the building industry, and luxury goods. It is home to porcelain houses and art workshops working with enamel or stained glass. This craft expertise led it to join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in 2017 in the thematic category "Crafts and Popular Arts".
