This offering is the view up the hill of the worst hit part of town, looking up the hill, many of these homes were rebuilt and still are there today.THIS IS THE BEST CLOSEUP WE HAVE SEEN OF THIS AREA This is a nice AZO branded, unmailed RPPC - REAL PHOTO POST CARD of the MAY 9 1918 - F4 strength tornado - which was the combining of TWO tornados into one - hitting CALMAR IOWA and ripping the center of town to shreds.THIS IS A MARKED AND DATED CARD. THE SMALL CALMAR MUSEUM HAS COPIES OF THE SAME AND SIMILAR CARDS IN ITS DISPLAY CASES. Excellent to Near Mint UNused shape. Typical corner rounding and edge wear, no major faults. Card shape descriptions are done to the Post Card trade standards: Mint is hard to find; Near Mint has very little if any wear; Excellent allows some wear and minor soiling; Very Good is better than average; Good is basically average; Fair is to allow more wear than normal; Poor is obvious. We try to call out any tears, minor wrinkles are on most any card. Creased means has been folded or badly bent. Cut down cards are hardly ever sold by us, if so will be told as such.
