Description: This lot consists of four (1, 2, 3 and 5) of the five volumes in Doris Lessing's science fiction series "Canopus in Argos: Archives." Published between 1979 and 1983 by Alfred A. Knopf, they're 6.5"x9.5" hardcovers with 365, 245, 288, and 179 pages, respectively. Vol. 1 is a second printing, while the others are the stated first editions. Vol. 1 is in acceptable condition with torn and stained dust jacket, soiling to the cover and sides of the text block, a visible moisture stain along the bottom of pages near the front. The other volumes are in good condition. The dust jackets have edge tears, small spots and stains, and Vol. 2's jacket is wrinkled from moisture exposure. Vol. 2's front flap is price-clipped, and Vol. 5's price is crossed out with another written in. The black cloth boards show light wear. There are old prices in pencil to the first page in Vols. 2 and 3. The interiors are otherwise clean and unmarked, the bindings firm.
