Our washer sets are all made from genuine high quality Carbontex material from Smooth Drag in the USA (we are an approved Smooth Drag dealer) and the washers are all machine cut to precise specifications as opposed to many of the cheaper, roughly hand-cut washers made out of poor quality carbon matrix available on Ebay. Please note that the Carbontex brand name is owned by Smooth Drag USA - we only sell genuine Smooth Drag products. Carbontex washers may be used dry or with a very light coating of your favourite PTFE based reel grease. Smooth Drag recommend Cal's Drag Grease which we also sell. For those users looking for a "quick" drag Carbontex is a good replacement for standard washers. Although a Carbontex fitted drag will need a little more tightening to lock up, it allows for a much smoother application of the drag in comparison to solid washer materials such as PTFE or solid carbon sheet. We're confident that once you've tried a set of Carbontex washers you won't want to fit anything else. This kit includes 4 washers which are a direct replacement for the standard Mitchell parts fitted to your reel, part numbers 81270, 81718 (leather) and 82127 (plastic). This kit includes the lower drag washer which is so often omitted from upgrade sets and without which the full benefits of this upgrade are not realised. Cal's 2 Speed Conversions are well know across the world for their big game reel conversions and servicing but they also supply excellent reel grease for both drags and gears and these are now available in these smaller resealable containers, designed for those that only want to service one or two reels.Universal Light Reel Grease (Purple) offers great protection for your reels from corrosion, is fortified with Teflon and Polymers and is ideal for the gears and internals on fixed spools and small multipliers, especially in cold weather, when the original "Cal's" tends to thicken and make light reels feel very stiff to reel.Universal Reel and Star Drag Grease (Tan) offers maximum protection from corrosion, is fortified with Teflon and Polymers and offers superior heat and wear resistance on larger reels. It is safe to use on all metals and plastics and is recommended by Smooth Drag for use with their replacement carbon drag washers to provide a smooth and constant drag system on your reel.
