Gagarin" - an indication that they are both copies after the watercolors (or drawings) by the famous Russian artist, Prince Grigori Grigorievich Gagarin, who spent many years in the Caucasus region (1811-1893).Both watercolors bear additionally an accompanying French text (one mentions the town Gelendzhik at the Black Sea coast). One is dated 1842, the other 1847 which is similarly and indication that they were not later-date copies but were made during one of Gagarin's "Caucasian" periods.
