Description: DESCRIPTION: Bradley is one of the more beautiful and unusual pink forms. Besides the dark pink color, it is distinguished by a dark pink stripe in the middle of each sepal. The bulbs get absolutely huge, 5+" in diameter, and they form new offset bulbs at a moderate rate, so you will have a nice grouping in a few years. Deep rose (medium pink with slightly darker pink stripe, white center), chalice-shaped, fragrant, open-faced, waxy flowers with rounded petals, on a slender, tall scape with bright green, shiny foliage which is more narrow than the powellii hybrids. Sometimes the flowers will have random white stripes. It will eventually form a clump 3’ wide x 2 ‘ tall. We have had 21 buds on 45" scapes. We grow over 1000 different crinum varieties and Bradley is one of the finest and most reliable. It is also a mid-summer bloomer, June and July, unlike the early blooming pink powelii type hybrids, so it will extend the crinum blooming season in your garden. BACKGROUND: According to Scott Ogden in his book, Garden Bulbs of the South, “The plant suggests descent from C. scabrum and the rare Australian native C. flaccidum, a species famous for its rounded blooms that vary from sulfur yellow to white and pink. C. flaccidum is, unfortunately, ill at ease in the South. Its hybrids thrive, however.” Blooms mid-Summer, long lasting. Bradley was a Sydney, New South Wales barrister and did extensive breeding in the 1910-1920 period. He developed the plant that won the Award of Merit from the NSW Chapter of the Royal Horticultural Society in 1927. Its common name is "Walking Stick" because of the slender scapes. GROWING CONDITIONS: This bulb should do well zone 7-10.
