Description: Juan D'Arienzo (Buenos Aires, December 14, 1900 ; January 14, 1976) was an important Argentine tango musician and conductor, known as “El rey del compas”.Unlike other orchestras of the golden age (1940-1950), D’Arienzo returned to the 2 × 4 feeling characteristic of the “old guard”, but with modern arrangements and instrumentation. His "typical" orchestras recorded hundreds of records. Considered one of the best orchestras along with that of Alfredo de Angelis, Francisco Canaro, Hector Varela, Anibal Troilo, Ricardo Tanturi, Osvaldo Fresedo among others. His music was heard in the milongas of Buenos Aires and Montevideo, and the instruments showed the classic hard rhythm of tangos with strong staccatos. He also recorded milongas and waltzes. He was the exclusive artist of the RCA Victor label for forty years, from 1935 to 1975. For many years he was the exclusive artist of the Chantecler cabaret on 440 Parana street.
