MODE OF ACTION: DEMON WP is a wettable powder formulation insecticide, both containing the active ingredient cypermethrin. Cypermethrin is a synthetic version of the natural pyrethrum products found in plants, such as chrysanthemum flowers. Since ancient times, the insect repelling and killing power of certain plants and plant extracts was well known. Pyrethrum products were carried back to Europe with returning crusaders. Earlier in this century, scientists identified the active ingredients in these natural products and set about to improve their efficacy and length of life upon exposure to sunlight. Cypermethrin is considered a second-generation pyrethroid with excellent insecticidal properties. All pyrethroids act on insect pests by affecting their nervous systems, causing muscle spasms, paralysis and death.
