Description: For anyone who’s ever wanted to make their own knife, this kit is perfect. From seasoned knife makers, diy’ers, or just a savvy craftsman looking for a few new things to add to their repertoire. Kit comes with one D2 Harden tool steel knife blank, and your choice of stabilized handle scales. Scales available in hickory, chinaberry, cedar/Juniper, red Oak, Magnolia, spalted sweet gum, or hackberry. Upon purchase I will reach out with available options. Buyer response is needed for shipping or I will choose a set of scales to send. Upgrade species available such as eucalyptus Robusta, mulberry Burl and spalted maple Burl. (Hybrid scales coming soon) (Photos are stock photos, individual handle scale received may not be pictured.) Instructions: To create your custom knife, use a quality epoxy resin and clamps to adhere scales to tang. 5min epoxy will suffice, but a quality 24hr epoxy adhesive is ideal. (Note: kit does not come with pins, which only add a mechanical advantage in the same way splines add mechanical advantage to mitered box joints. If you desire to add pins, any round stock of the correct size will work.) Once set, use any shaping method available to you to shape the handle into a comfortable grip. Periodically checking evenness as you shape. (Tip: for best bond, use low grit sand paper to scuff the surface of the tang before glueing)
