DVD FEATURES: Synopsis: Dr. Martin Ellingham (Martin Clunes, MEN BEHAVING BADLY) is a surgeon with a difference: he can't stand the sight of blood! You'd think this would force him to reconsider his vocation in life, but no; he's quite content acting as the sole physician of a sleepy Cornish village. But it's his abrasive bedside manner--rather than his haemophobia--that puts him at odds with the eccentric townsfolk and gives rise to many humorously awkward situations. . Intro: Described as "one of the funniest and most entertaining shows on television" this boxset brings together every series ever of the much loved stories of Doc Martin, as well as the Christmas Finale: Last Christmas in Portwenn and the special documentary Farewell Doc Martin. Starting with the arrival of Doctor Martin Ellingham, a respected surgeon from London, in the small ¬ fishing village of Portwenn in Cornwall, this ¬fish out of water soon discovers that small village life can present some very big problems. Get on the wrong side of your receptionist and the world can turn against you. Let that same world know your greatest weakness, and it'll soon be used by those who love you and those who feel less inclined. None of these life lessons are easily learned by a man who is best known for his brusque bedside manner and his absolute lack of interpersonal skills. Portwenn itself is brought to life by its rich array of characters including the formidable Sally Tishell who runs the local chemist, Bert Large and his son Al, local policemen Mark Mylow and Joe Penhale, Doc Martin's aunt Dr Ruth Ellingham and, of course, the primary school teacher who fell for the man they thought had no heart, but she found it, Louisa Glasson who would become Louisa Ellingham. This complete collection celebrates the very essence of what has made Doc Martin so special, including every episode since 2004, when the grumpy Doc and the quirky characters of Portwenn started to bring their certain kind of joy to viewers around the world. In Season 1, Doctor Martin Ellingham, a celebrated London surgeon turns his back on city life and moves to a sleepy Cornish village to become the local doctor. In Season 2, Martin is joined by Aunt Joan, Bert and Al Large, the local plumbers, local bobby PC Mark Mylow and school teacher Louisa Glasson, who's no clearer about her feelings for Doc Martin than she was when she first met him! In Season 3, the good doctor continues to bumble through life in the village all the while trying to pursue his ill-fated burgeoning romance with headmistress Louisa Glasson. After her departure, Season 4 has Doc Martin questioning his future in the village. Though they aren't apart for too long when Louisa gives birth to their son in Season 5. Can the Doc cope with being a new dad while trying to resume his high-flying career as a surgeon? In Season 6, Dr. Martin Ellingham can't raise a smile on his own wedding day; but following a suitably disaster-filled honeymoon, he and Louisa must learn to live together, raise a child, and manage both their careers as best they can. In Season 7, years of grumpiness have finally caught up with Dr. Martin Ellingham. With his marriage in trouble, Martin finally agrees to see a therapist. He may have met his match in the young and smart Dr. Rachel Timoney, but can she cure his caustic personality and help bring Louisa back to Martin? Season 8, sees Louisa juggling too many responsibilities and a surprise marriage approaches.. and passes. There are money making plans, deaths and long unseen relatives turning up... along with some more dogs "Uh no! Get out!" Season 9, As we return to Portwenn, all is not well with Doc Martin. With his career still under scrutiny due to his blood phobia and the General Medical Council arrives to assess his bedside manner and determine if he is still fit to practise. Louisa, having resigned as head teacher at Portwenn School, is throwing herself into her new career as a child and adolescent counsellor. When Louisa notices James is finding it hard to socialise at nursery, she starts wondering whether a little brother or sister would help. But with Martin having to jump through hoops to save his career and Louisa starting her new role the timing might not be the best. Meanwhile Al and Bert are making a success of running the Crab and Lobster, leaving Morwenna feeling a little neglected; Mrs Tishell has a new lease of life following Clive's death and decides to try dating again; and Penhale's authority is challenged when his predecessor returns. However, could an accidental proposal have wedding bells ringing in the village of Portwenn? Seaon 10, Back in Portwenn, a year has passed and Doctor Martin Ellingham still isn't practising as a doctor.br> The Ellingham's new daughter, Mary Elizabeth, who is now 4 months old, has arrived with Martin fully embracing the role of househusband, leaving Louisa to see her therapy clients in Martin's consulting room. The newly formed status quo is upset when a medical emergency occurs, but will it make Martin realise that he really does want to be a doctor again? EElsewhere, Mrs Tishell is waging a campaign to get Martin reinstated, Morwenna has moved on and is making her way up the corporate ladder and even Al is experiencing success with his own mobile food truck business, doing a roaring trade at local events. Meanwhile, things aren't looking so great for Bert, Ruth is off to Mexico for a conference and Penhale is considering his options now that Janice has returned to Portwenn and opened a nail bar. Finale, Portwenn is a flurry with Christmas activities; the stalls are open, the carollers are singing, the Christmas tree twinkling and Al is running a 'Guess The Weight of the Christmas Turkey' competition. As Martin and James wait patiently to see Santa in his Grotto, Martin spots a medical concern that has him shut down the grotto and send Santa packing - until he's sure he isn't infectious. Louisa, taking matters into her own hands, is determined not to let Martin ruin Christmas, and goes to see Penhale about bringing back the Portwenn Festival of Lights. As keen as Penhale is they need to get through the officious Portwenn Parish council officer, Agatha, first. Meanwhile, things go from bad to worse as Leonard decides potential illness won't prevent Santa from delivering the gifts - the traditional way! Mrs Tishell feels positively Christmassy when she takes the opportunity offered by some mistletoe and Christmas spirit; and Penhale's "12 Days of Christmas" inspired series of gifts doesn't quite go to plan. But does he have a final gesture up his sleeve? Hello :-) IMPORTANT DVD INFORMATION FOR MY US & CANADIAN CUSTOMERS: As per the auction these are Europe Region 2 DVDs (US/Canada are Region 1) and you need a multi-regional (multi-zone) DVD player to play them! BUT don't panic just yet :-) Many DVD players are easy to unlock. Let me know the brand and model number of your DVD player so I see if there is a simple unlock code for your player.
