Description: These struck thru or lamination errors were being passed around as the culprit for the famous Washington Missing Edge dollars that took place back in 2007. A very small fraction of the Washington Missing Edges have these lamination errors and it was speculated that the US Mint quality control noticed these lamination errors and set a batch aside for further inspection. It was speculated that this batch never made it back to the edge processing area and some how made its way to circulation which of course created the frenzy search for these missing edges. These famously became known as "Starburst" errors and very few exist. The picture doesn't do justice here and you can see where the struck thru or lamination error took place on this coin right around the spikes of Lady Liberty. From searching ebay over the years I would say that about 1 in 100 of the Washington Missing Edge errors actually have this double error, so indeed a rarity here and not to mention historic because these laminations errors could have very well been the culprit in how these Missing Edges got out of the US MInt. .
