Description: Early American Coin Silver Gravy Sauce Pitcher with Partial hallmarks circa 1830Presented is Great Gravy or Sauce pitcher marked with pseudo hallmarks including a C for what I believe to be the Silver-smith initial and Coin I believe to be indicative of silver made circa1830. This beautifully detailed piece has four ball feet below square motif shape vessel with a high arched hollow handle with a pierced gallery frame around the base. This fantastic piece has only some dents and dings, some dents in one of the ball feet and some fine scratches from gentle use and care. It is an excellent piece for the collector of fine antique silver and the silversmith’s art.A friendly Ebayer suggest McGrew’s book on Marks on American Coin Silver relates the ‘Bust/C/Lion” combination is a manufacturing mark, “attributed by Hollis French to Francis W. Cooper, Ailversmith, 102 Reade St., NYC, 1846-47.” Beggs & Smith, were retailers in Cincinnati from 1848-61I have an interesting assortment of items listed so please look at my other auctions.Measure: 4 5/8” inches high to top of handle, 3” inches x5 5/8” inches wideWeight: 6.4 ounces on my postal scale 181 gramsMarks: partial marks for coin silver with pseudo marks I believe to be for silver made c1830.
