Description: Early Classic Period Tripod Rattle Vessel Bowl. Monkey Themed Polychrome Early Classic Period Tripod Rattle Vessel Bowl. Monkey Themed Polychrome Pre-Columbian 3-legged shallow bowl w/rattle balls in legs. Monkey themed shallow bowl depicting other animals such as a dog, snake and others I don't recognize.Primitively colored in red/ orange and black on a light orange earthenware. Measures approx: 6 1/2" W x 3 1/2" HCondition: Very good for it's very very old condition. Two chips on edge (see photos) and normal fading of some of the color from use. Origin unknown: Costa Rica, Mayan, Mexico?This was part of a family member estate collection of early American and Pre-Columbian artifacts. Probably purchased in the 1970s or earlier. Note: Descriptions are to the best of my knowledge as I'm not an expert. Item is from a relative’s estate of a life-long collection of early Canadian, American and Russian antiques and collectibles purchased from mid 1900s on.
