Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Eastern redbud is one of America's most used small ornamental trees offering very early spring blooms and attractive summer foliage. Eastern redbud is most noted for its early spring rose-purple flowers which are displayed to great effect blooming in late winter or early spring before plants have leafed out. The flowers bloom on bare branches enhancing the floral display, sometimes even blooming out of the trunk. The heart-shaped summer leaves are a pleasant light to dark green followed by a bright yellow to orange fall color. In the wild the tree is encountered as an understory tree growing under larger, open crown trees but grows well in the sun and is quite heat and drought tolerant. Tolerant of alkaline and clay soils and even under black walnut trees which produce juglone, a chemical which inhibits the growth of plants. Great in groups, woodland margins, patios, or as a specimen. Can be grown in a large container. Note: If you order more than one lot of one species of seeds, for example you place two orders of 100 seeds, or whatever variation is offered, we assume you want 200 seeds and your order will be sent in one seed packet.
