Description: Josef AlbersEugen Gomringer France. Dessain Et Tolra. 1972. Second edition. First French edition. Hardcover. With the dust jacket. Text in French. Good plus in a very good dust jacket. This monograph on painter and Bauhaus pioneer Josef Albers was first published in Germany and in the United States in 1968. The French edition followed in 1972. The dust jacket features one of Albers' famous homage to the square paintings, repeated as a blind debossing on the cloth cover. There is a stunning picture section with works by Albers - not the usual half-tone reproductions but real silkscreen prints (serigraphs) using individually mixed inks. The boards appear to have light wear. However they are difficult to see because the dust jacket is mylar protected and then the flaps and edges are taped closed obscuring a closer look. Internally, gorgeous silkscreens. Clean and bright. A penciled in price on the first free endpaper. A couple of spots of foxing on page 119 and page 157. Two tiny tears to the white border on page 123. Few of the pages have vertical creases. None of these defects appear on any of the pages with silkscreens. Those are perfect and suitable for framing. Otherwise the remaining text and illustrations are very clean and unusually bright. DJ lightly soiled. Some edgewear and small chips to the head and heel of the spine. Not price clipped. Now mylar protected. An incredible book with silkscreen prints.
