This is Laura Ingalls Wilder's beloved story of how her husband Almanzo grew up as a farmer boy far from the little house where Laura lived. About the Author: Laura Ingalls Wilder was born in the Wisconsin woods in 1867. In 1879 she traveled west to the Dakota Territory, where she lived with her family. In 1894 she made the trip to Mansfield, Missouri, with her husband, Almanzo. There she wrote the Little House books, based on her own experiences growing up on the western frontier. Laura lived to be ninety years old, and her Little House books have become beloved classics. This book is a scarce 1933 original edition, September 1941printing I-Q, with the original illustrations by Helen Sewell. Many LIW fans have never seen these original editions! This would have been the last printing before the newly-revised editions came out in 1953. In 1953, the much more commonplace Garth Williams illustrations were published. The book is in FAIR/GOOD condition, with wear to the edges and corners and discoloration to the cloth covers. The pages are a little soft from age, but are free from writing. There is moisture damage along the bottom 1-2" on the book extending about 3" from the center spine. There is no mold or moldy smell. The REPRODUCTION dust jacket cuts off on the inside flaps due to paper size limitations, but displays nicely in a new mylar sleeve.
