Description: Beautiful vintage English tinned baking dish. Made of steel and hand wiped with tin, it features a fish design on the bottom with two steel swing handles for hanging or carrying. Measures approximately 14" x 10" across, and 2" deep. It doesn't appear to have been heated, baked in, washed, or polished. It may have been intended only as a decorative item, I'm not sure. The is a vintage item in excellent overall condition. It has a few light scuffs and scratches and one or two small spots on the exterior where the tin didn't bond well to the steel. F. & S. is believed to be F Francis & Sons, likely out of the Thames Ironworks complex. Founded in 1869, F Francis & Sons produced a wide variety of steel and tin lined containers and drums for mroe than 100 years. This piece was likely produced in 1951 as is referenced in the raised date on the side of the dish. The is a vintage item in excellent overall condition.
