The extra leather at the top helps in reholstering and is tall enough to cover and protect the hammer on revolvers with exposed hammers. Also you don,t get stomach pinch from exposed parts. Perfect fit in height and width for gun so no part of the revolver touches your skin while carrying but grip is exposed so you can pull your revolver out when needed.
