It is chemically compatible with diesel fuel, liquid propane gas, and oxygen. FORMULA-8 utilizes PTFE in a shear-sensitive, thixotropic white paste to create seals in threaded joints with PTFE strings during torque application. These seals effectively cover the entire length of the thread, ensuring even fine threads in instrumentation systems are securely sealed. Resilient from -400°F to +500°F, FORMULA-8 maintains stability under pressures up to 10,000 psi and in vacuums as low as 10‐3 Torr. NASA (ASTM G72-82 and ASTM G86) and BAM (German Federal Institute for Materials Testing) have tested and certified FORMULA-8 for use in both gaseous and liquid oxygen applications.
