Frank Herbert, Children of Dune. HC/DJ BCE, 1976. 1st Printing Gutter Code G44.

Description: Frank Herbert, Children of Dune. Berkley/Putnam. Book Club Edition, 1976. Hardcover Book in Dust Jacket. The book is in very good condition, appears unread. Gutter code on page 409 reads G 44, which indicates a first printing of the Book Club Edition. Text block is straight and square, spine is tight. Deckled edging. Minimal age spotting to edges of text block with a few yellowed age spots on inside pasted downs. Maroon book boards with gold lettering on spine perfect, corners sharp. Very light rubbing to bottom edge of book boards. Dust jacket (especially for a Book Club Edition from 1976!) is very, very good—minor rubbing to top of jacket, small push at top of spine of jacket, two very small closed tears at top front of jacket. Jacket still retains shine. Minor, almost negligible , wrinkling at middle of front cover. Condition of the book is indicated in pictures I have included, which are of the actual book being offered for sale. Overall, an immaculate and collectible copy to add to a collection! Children of Dune is Book Three in Frank Herbert’s Dune Trilogy, which remains one of the most significant sagas in the history of literary science fiction. The Children of Dune are twins Leto and Ghanima Atreides, whose father Emperor Paul Muad’Dib disappeared in the desert wastelands of Arrakis nine years ago. Like their father, the twins posses supernormal abilities, making them valuable to their aunt Alia, ruler of the Empire in the name of the House Atreides. Facing treason and rebellion, Alia’s reign is troubled. Plotters from the House Corrino attempt to regain the throne, at the same time as the Fremen are being urged into rebellion by The Preacher. Leto and Ghanima have plans of their own, even as their aunt attempts to obtain the secrets of their prophetic visions. Children of Dune combines the threads of ecology and adventure created in the previous two books in the series, leading to a spectacularly satisfying series conclusion.
