American artist Frank Townsend Hutchens (1869-1937), after the original by Camille Corot.Biography from Peter Hastings Falk: Born in Canandaigua, New York, Frank Hutchens was a painter of landscape, portraits, and figures and noted for his watercolors. He studied with Irving R Wiles and Frank DuMond at the Art Students League and also studied in Paris where he was a member of the Paris Association of American Artists. Other affiliations were the American Watercolor Society, Silvermine Artist Guild, and the Salmagundi Club. He painted in Taos, New Mexico during the summers of 1931 and 1932.Oil on board.Signed FTH, Corot.Label on reverse reads "...of Corot's Springtime, by Mr. Frank Townsend Hutchens, to Geo. A. Kent Esq., F.T. Hutchens".Housed in original frame.Meaures 6 1/8" x 9 1/4".Framed size 11 5/8" x 14 3/4".Painting in very good condition. There are 2 very tiny paint chips which can be seen in the 5th photo, all the other white spots that appear in the photos are light reflections off of the paint texture.Frame has gesso damage on bottom right corner, and a few other minor gesso losses.Being sold as found.
