Description: Up for sale is an all original 1976 Gibson Byrdland S/N 00101191 I bought on eBay about a year ago from the original owner and was obviously rarely played. The frets show no wear at all, there are no dings, scratches, or even any "polish swirl". The first thing I did was to straighten the neck that was long overdue, adjust the bridge and set the intonation. A few months later I noticed some "cracks" in the lacquer finish had developed mostly in the neck heel area and extending a little past that I have pictured that have stabilized. The lacquer is old and brittle that would be the reason for that. You can't feel the finish cracks that look worse than they are. The 2nd flaw in the condition is some corrosion on the pickup covers that has been caused by "fumes" emitted from the pickguard I spoke to an expert about. The celluloid pickguards made so many years ago were "notorious" for emitting harmful fumes that caused corrosion to the nearby parts. The pickup mounts are still in great condition. If I wasn't planning to sell this guitar, I would definitely replace the pickguard that is (still) emitting fumes when the case is closed. The action is Very low with no fret buzzes, is very comfortable to play, and sounds great. The electronics work perfectly as they came from the factory. It is made with all solid spruce and maple woods. It has a 23 1/2" short scale length with 22 frets. The case looks like new. My Buy It Now price includes free UPS shipping to anywhere in the Lower 48 States and will send you the Tracking Number and package it carefully. Feel free to ask me questions I haven't already answered. Thanks for looking.
