This guitar has aged beautifully and has really opened up displaying a golden patina. It was hand made when Master Luthier Ren Ferguson was in charge of the Gibson acoustic division. According to Henry Juszkiewicz, Chairman and CEO of Gibson Guitar “Ren Ferguson has been an integral part of arguably one of the best periods of acoustic guitar building for Gibson,” “His vision has been and will continue to be central to the success of Gibson acoustics.” Aged Bone non-compensated Saddle. According to the Gibson Catalog the bridge was hand shaped by Loren Jones who also chose selected the inlays. He worked at Gibson until his death in December 2009. Comments: Parlor size J-200. 2/3 the size of a regular SJ-200. Very comfortable to play sitting on the sofa. Body width 16” vs 17” of SJ-200 The quality of the woods are top of the line. Slim neck profile. Scalloped X bracing attached with hide glue. The handmade bridge features 2 rectangular bars of Mother-Of-Pearl. The fingerboard is constructed of highly figured Indian Rosewood. Gold vintage style tuners. If you’re a collector you’d appreciate that this model was only available from 2001-2006. CONDITION: Very good No cracks or repairs. The top has moderate weather checking. One tuner has been replaced and matches the other tuner very well. 100% original with added strap button on heel. Just had a professional set up. Frets lightly hand buffed. Dunlop 65 Ultimate Lemon Oil applied to fingerboard and bridge then hand buffed to a sheen. The fingerboard feels very smooth. Truss rod adjusted. Martin MA540S Authentic Acoustic strings 9282/20 Phosphor Bronze light gauge with silked ends .012-.054. The body has been cleaned with Virtuoso Premium Cleaner and polished with Virtuoso Premium Polish all by hand. The guitar feels smooth and has a great shine. Always kept at 50% humidity in my smoke free acoustic room. The smoothness of the fingerboard makes it easy to play and bend strings. Lots of volume, tone, sustain and projection. You may prefer to have it set up to suit your personal preference. Top: Solid book matched AAA Sitka Spruce. Close grain with very attractive silking. Body: Solid book matched highly flamed maple. Body binding: Front 3 ply white-black-white. Back 3 ply white-black-white. Heel cap binding: 3 ply black - white Top wood: AAA book matched Solid Sitka Spruce with very attractive silking and figuring. Braces: Solid Sitka Spruce. Hand scalloped radiused top in X pattern secured with hide glue. Back & sides: Solid book matched AAA flame maple. Marquetry strip inlaid in back. Neck: One 2 piece maple with walnut stringer.
