For high-speed intercept, they are swept back and they swing forward for lower speed flight.US Navy Strike Fighter Squadron 103 (VFA-103) adopted the Jolly Rogers nickname in 1995 for the sinister white skull-crossbones on all-black tails painted on their F-14's. They provided support in the Yugoslav Wars and participated in the war in Afghanistan. Their last deployment with this aircraft was aboard the USS John F Kennedy in the Persian Gulf, with Final Tomcat Cruise added to their famous tails.
