Description: One day sale. Because it's Thursday... Two bucks off. Regular price comes back tomorrow. Here we have a loading block for muzzleloading rifles and pistols. This model holds six extra rounds. To use this device, just put your pre-lubed patched round balls into the holes and that is it. Hang it from your neck or the strap on your possibles or shooting bag and you are ready to go with those quick followup shots when needed. Sort of like an eighteenth century speed loader, this tool eliminates the need to look for a patch, lube it, then hunt for the ball in the bottom of your pouch, only to then start the loading process. This just sits over the bore of your rifle and, in one fluid motion, push it through into the barrel with your ramrod. Make sure the ball is seated, remove the rod, and let the loader drop as it is tethered to you and won't fall far. Don't forget to put the powder in first though... I can make these in the following calibers: .32, .36, .40, .45, .50, and .54. I have round balls in these calibers to insure perfect fit. Any other caliber will be drilled according to the ball diameter, but I don't have balls in other calibers to be able to verify fit. The samples in the pictures are for .50 caliber (.490 round ball), are made of Tennessee hardwood, and are around 3/4 thick. All blocks are now being made from Tennessee oak. Please specify the caliber you need at time of ordering. You can send me a message with that info. If a caliber isn't specified you will receive a loading block in .50 as that is the most common caliber people order. The holes in these blocks are drilled to the bore size of the barrel. So if you are shooting a .50 then your holes will be bored to 0.500. This accommodates thin to regular patches. If you are one of those guys that shoots super thick patches, like denim or doubled up pillow ticking, they will not fit without the buyer sanding them out to custom fit their loads. This is easily accomplished by wrapping some sand paper around a pencil or some kind of stick and working through each hole until you have reached the desired opening size. Doesn't take very long top accomplish. Finish varies from one to the next as that is the nature of wood, and I make them from oak. Any hardwood is good but don't use pine for your loading blocks as it will break at some point. Pretty quickly. Unless you request it I do not use stain on my blocks. I use my own formula of bullet lube for finish, which has a high content of organic beeswax, to polish and seal the outside of them. If you see some funk in the holes in my pictures that is what it is as I had just coated these when the pictures were taken. The beeswax coating helps preserve the wood, offers some waterproofing, and doesn't stink like stains tend to. And my coating seasons the wood over time giving it a very authentic look. This listing is for one loading block and it will be supplied with the protective coating applied and a length of leather cordage for tethering it to yourself or your pouch. Let me know if you desire a specific stained finish or have any custom requests and I will be glad to work with you within reason. See my other listings for more options on these and other muzzleloading and bushcrafting supplies. Thanks for looking and have a great day.
