Description: This is a handsome vintage wooden apple bank made in France in the 1930s. The apple is likely made of turned beautifully grained pear wood with touches of green staining and has a metal hinged base that allowed access to the money, if the key had not been lost. It was made by an unidentified French toy manufacturer and is an original piece. Condition: the finish is in superior condition, but the key is missing and I believe the metal base was forced open at sometime. The clue is the small tack the helps secure this metal base to the bottom of the bank. Please look at all the photographs. 2.5” High 3” Diameter (at shoulder)
