Description: Herpa 1:200 Wings 573023 Lockheed L-1649 Starliner Diecast Model Alaska Airlines, N7316C 1:200 Scale Length WidthLockheed L-1649 Starliner 7" 9" In memory of the gold rush in Alaska near the end of the 19th century, Alaska Airlines launched its "Golden Nugget Service" in the early 1960s. Not only was a new red and gold paint scheme introduced, but the interior also appeared in red and gold tones. The flight attendants were dressed in period clothing, wearing long velvet skirts, wide hats and puff-sleeved shirts. From 1962 to 1968, Alaska Airlines used two L-1649s as part of its own route network and for military charter duties. This Starliner was later purchased by Lufthansa along with two others to restore it to airworthy condition. Unfortunately, the project was stopped and the future of N7316C still remains uncertain.
