Description: Herter's Super Model 234 Metallic Cartridge Vintage Turret Reloading Press Waseca, Minn. This is a seriously heavy-duty cast-iron turret reloading press made by Herter's Reloading Company. Herter's originated as an Outdoor Goods Catalog Business in 1937 and was very successful for nearly fifty years. Today the Herter's brand of shooting accessories is still sold at stores like Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops. Due to this longevity, their gear has gathered a loyal following as they produced some of the most robust and solid equipment ever sold. This American-made press is seriously robust and is a reliable tool for reloading rifle, handgun, and even shotgun ammunition. Yes, you read that right (see below)! It is also crazy heavy... at nearly 34 lbs! I have owned a myriad of presses in my life, and I think this is without a doubt the most robust turret press that I have had the pleasure of owning. The turret alone is approximately 8 inches across and just over an inch thick. I even had to weigh that separately for giggles and grins (weighs a whopping 11 lbs!). The biggest concern with any turret press is flex and Herters has certainly tried to limit that potential with this over-engineered behemoth. This cast iron reloading press is in great condition with almost no rust and only minor blemishes or wear which is common to used reloading equipment. It has the typical paint scratches and wear markings, but the press has no slop in it and is smooth as silk. Also, take a look at the turret handles! These are the original handles, and they look really good. They routinely receive abuse as reloaders grab the handle with other gear in their hands and the rubberized handles get nick, cuts, etc. Just look at the other Herter Turret presses (or any vintage turret press) for sale on Ebay right now. But not these. They do show age with minor surface crazing like you would expect, but aside from that they look really good. Everything functions great on this press which is a good indicator the press was not abused. All of the die holding threads in the turret head look very good, both sharp and unblemished. This particular press even has the removable die bushing insert that allows the reloader to switch from the larger diameter 1-1/4ā x 18 tpi threaded die to the now standard 7/8ā x 14 threaded dies. This insert is often lost through the years, but this press comes with one in excellent condition (see photos). According to the Herters manual, the larger diameter die station is for Shotgun Dies so you can use this press to reload shotshells as well!! How cool is that?! Can you tell how much I love this thing? Iām not kidding, this press is so much fun and just looks great!! It is most certainly ready for the serious reloader or vintage press collector equally. It comes exactly as seen in the photos and includes the original Herter's Primer Arm that appears to be in great condition but with only the large priming stem. I am also enclosing a photocopy of the original Herter's Manual that covers so many of their early presses (Model 3, 3A, O3, U3, 81, O Super & 234). I believe in full disclosure and mention any observable defects in my auctions for accuracy. Please check photos carefully, but I think you will find this vintage press is in really great condition. Please see my other reloading equipment items that I have for sale. I am always happy to combine shipping. Due to the heavy-duty nature of this press, weight is the issue in shipping costs. I will end up sending this in two USPS Flat Rate Shipping Boxes which is why the shipping will be a flat rate of $38.00. I do not charge anything additional as a "Handling Fee". The shipping costs you see are what it costs me to send it to you. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask and I will try to answer them to the best of my ability.
