Description: UNFIRED HESSIAN 3 POUNDER CANNON GRAPE SHOT BALL, TRENTON, 1776 This Hessian 3 pounder cannon grape shot ball was found by the local historian James Donald in his back yard of the Donald House on King Street where the Hessians had set up a pair of 3 pounder cannons right after the battle. These cannons were knocked out of commission by Captain Alexander Hamilton's Battery of 6 pounder cannons & were captured along with the gunners & supporting Hessian infantry by the Americans. It is 1 1/32" diameter & is in VERY good condition (as it was found & put away right after the battle) & has very light pitting & a dark brown patina. It is one of several found in the den of the old house when it was torn down in 1934/35. It come with certificate of authenticity & a Donald Collection letter.
