Description: This listing is for one or more solid bronze medals of the Holy Face of Jesus from Veronica's Veil. Medals with this image are difficult to find; most of the Holy Face medals currently available show the image from the Holy Shroud of Turin. The primary difference between the two is that the Veronica's Veil image shows the Face of Our Lord during His Passion, whereas the image from the Shroud of Turin shows His Face in Death. The Veronica's Veil image is also the one associated with the Chaplet of the Holy Face and with the Archconfraternity of the Holy Face.The inscription around the outside of the medals is "VERA EFFIGIES SACRI VULTUS D. N. J. C. (DOMINI NOSTRI JESU CHRISTI),” which is Latin for "True Image of the Face of Our Lord Jesus Christ."The medals are cast from actual bronze, which is about 88% copper and 12% tin, and are made in the USA. They not the bronze-colored base metal often sold as "antique bronze." The jump rings are solid bronze as well.These medals are medium-sized, about 3/4 inch in diameter. They can be worn as pendants on a chain, or used for making Chaplets of the Holy Face or attaching to Rosaries or Scapulars.These medals are castings made from a mold taken from an antique Holy Face medal about 125 or more years old. I believe that the original medal came from France; the castings are made in the USA.The shipping rate you are charged includes eBay's shipping discount, so it will cost you less than what the post office charges.
