Can any set be more cheerful and positive?Our demi is an Angela Caputi, most likely from the 1980s. The Italian designer, who started making jewelry in the 1970s and who still operates out of her atelier in Florence, is known for large, eye-catching, modernist jewelry made of mostly plastic synthetic resins handcrafted to look like natural materials like coral or tortoise shell. All her pieces are unsigned, but bear distinctive designs and construction elements (like clasps) made of synthetic resin. These days, her pieces carry plastic tags with her full name plus her nickname, "Giuggiù", which means "playful" in Italian.Our necklace is phenomenal in size and design. It has a 3" round flashy "daisy" centerpiece made of clear faceted resin petals that simulate crystals. The flower is suspended from a strand of 3/4" round vivid yellow beads that are handknotted in between. Close to the flower pendant are two ice cube-shaped resin beads that sure look like faceted glass crystals. These ice cubes are capped by crystal rondelles.The necklace has a pair of unique interlocking "c" shaped clasps, made of synthetic resin. This is one of two types of clasps unique to Caputi necklaces and usually help identify the maker. These clasps snap together easily on the small notches . The necklace measures 19" long, with the flower having a 3" drop.Each earring has a large yellow dome in the center trimmed all around by a clear glass ring. The earrings are huge, measuring 1 5/8" round, and are clipbacks. We actually found similar Caputi earrings online, with different color combinations.The set is in very good to excellent condition. The necklace's clear clasp shows wear, as does one of the end caps, which has a spot of color loss. But all the rest are in great shape.
