It became ICAN’s best-selling product. 2019 is going to be a better year as we unveil the ICAN Aero Series Wheelset. The Aero Series wheelset has inherited all the awesome features that contributed to the success of the Fast and Light Series but in lighter packages. Think of the AERO as a super-light wheelset. The Rim The Aero Series Wheelset rims materialize from a combination of Toray T700 and T800 carbon fiber cloths. A marriage of these carbon cloths produces a lighter end product in comparison to a rim made only from Toray T700 carbon fiber cloth. The Aero Series Wheelset is 25mm wide, slightly wider than our standard ICAN wheelset. Wide wheels offer more rolling resistance and superior stability. The depth of AERO series comes in five options; 35mm, 40mm, 50mm, 55mm, and 86mm. All wheelsets in the series are tubeless ready and finished in a 2-way clincher profile. ICAN upgraded the brake track to a 3K Carbon Braking Track which offers more brake heat resistance. Hubs and Spokes Super-light wheels need super-light hubs. R01 hubs replace Novatec hubs. On the front wheel, the R01 hub is secured by 18 aerodynamically sound Sapim CX-Ray spokes. On the other hand, the 10/11-Speed Shimano compatible R01 hubs are matted to the rear rim by 24 super-light Sapim CX-Ray spokes. We nicely called this wheel range the Aero range to make it easy for you. The Aero 50 is a 50mm deep section rim. I’m sure you can see what we did there. The new Aero range is based on our highly successful Fast and Light series. Our FL series was a tubeless aero range of wheels constructed using Toray T700 carbon fiber. We designed these wheels to be light, stiff, and strong while being a wide blunt aero shape. We wanted to keep those features and make the wheels lighter. Our engineers tried out various new layups and in the end designed a new layup using both T700 and T800 carbon fiber. The new layup allowed the wheels to be around 100g per wheelset lighter and still retain their stiffness and strength while still being the same aero shape. We then needed an amazing new hubset to go with these wheels. Our engineers came up with the new D01 hubset. A sealed bearing hubset that we have made available in both Centrelock and 6-bolt rotor pattern to allow you to fit the rotors of your choice. To lace our new hubs to our new carbon fiber rim, we picked the best aero spokes available on the market. We chose the Sapim CX-Ray spokes. These spokes offer titanium weight but not titanium flex.
