For this type of printing, a polished limestone is used on which the image to be printed is drawn with a greasy material, either with a pencil, brush, or other tools. This process is based on the incompatibility of grease and water. Once the stone is moistened, the printing ink only remains retained in the drawn areas. Para este tipo de impresión se utiliza una piedra caliza pulimentada sobre la que se dibuja la imagen a imprimir con una materia grasa, bien sea mediante lápiz, pincel u otras herramientas. Este proceso se basa en la incompatibilidad de la grasa y el agua. Una vez la piedra humedecida, la tinta de impresión solo queda retenida en las zonas dibujadas. La historia del grabado en Cuba se remonta al siglo XIX y estuvo asociado a la industria tabacalera.
