Description: This is an incredibly detailed specimen of Walliserops lindoei, a sought after trilobite from the Devonian of Morocco. Walliserops is known for its trident/fork which one theory suggests may have been used for combat against rival males in order to win mates. This particular specimen is quite interesting in a few ways. Not only does it exhibit stunning detail in both eye lenses, but it also has a multi-toned shell due to the minerals present during the fossilization process. Its pygidium has also been prepared to be in a “floating position”. Sometimes parts of the trilobite like the pygidium or trident have to be re-positioned since they were found disarticulated. This could be the case for this particular specimen, but I am not completely sure. Spines are usually re-glued during prep. There seems to be no major restorations, most likely less than 2% overall in my opinion. In last pictures, you could see glued cracks under UV light. Overall, it’s an amazing specimen and would be a great addition to any collection! Length of trilobite: approximately 2.5 inches (6.35 cm) with trident Note: colors of photos are NOT edited, but I take pictures either outside in natural sunlight or in a light box, so colors may seem brighter or different from actuality Note: The fossils are packed with extreme care, but if the fossil does break in transit somehow, I can only give any form of compensation if there is video proof of the full unboxing provided that shows the fossil was damaged right out of the box.
