Description: Here offered is a very rare specimen of scheelite from a "lost" mine in NC. The Phoenix mine was a large gold and copper producer in the 1800s but it has faded into obscurity since then. There are multiple areas on this specimen with scheelite some of which is in vugs and is crystalline. One surface of the specimen is a slickenside which means it formed along a fault. The scheelite occurs in quartz along with siderite. This piece came from the primary shaft at the Phoenix mine of which there where 3 shafts. 10x6x4.8 cm
