Description: Japanese Hanging Scroll Kakejiku This vintage Japanese hanging scroll (kakejiku or makimono) features the Heart Sutra on the bottom and some inscriptions on the top. It has a beautiful white chrysanthemum pattern on the background. This scroll is a souvenir from a pilgrimage. Kakejiku is a Japanese picture or calligraphy mounted on a piece of paper. Kakejiku was a tool to spread Buddhism in Japan. It has been integrated with Japanese culture as interior decoration. Tokokake is used at the Tokonoma in tatami room. Chakake has Zen words used in the tea ceremony room. Buddha-kake is used in the Buddhist altar.
