Description: Joseph Story / A Selection Of Pleadings In Civil Action 1805 First Edition. Fully titled: “Civil Actions, Subsequent to the Declaration. With Occasional Annotations on the Law of Pleading.” Published by Barnard B. Macanulty. Salem. Printed in Boston. Jan. 1805. From Wikipedia: “Joseph Story (September 18, 1779 – September 10, 1845) was an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, serving from 1812 to 1845. He is most remembered for his opinions in Martin v. Hunter's Lessee and United States v. The Amistad, and especially for his Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States, first published in 1833. Dominating the field in the 19th century, this work is a cornerstone of early American jurisprudence. It is the second comprehensive treatise on the provisions of the U.S. Constitution and remains a critical source of historical information about the forming of the American republic and the early struggles to define its law.” The information in this book laid a lot of the groundwork for law in America, specifically dealing with the first amendment. These cases helped Story form political ideologies based on law that he then used further in Government and The Supreme Court. This book has been professionally rebound in Connecticut at some point and it was done extremely well. It’s very tight and presents beautifully. The inside pages have wear. Some water stains, foxing, and general paper use. Theres a page with a small hole. The outside edge of paper isnt 100% even. There are two signatures on the title page which I assume are previous owners. You can flip through every page easily , none of the pages are stuck together which is a big plus. I took as many pictures as I could and would be happy to take more for you. I cannot find another image of this book online. There is one listed online but it has no image. I did as much research as I could and tried to accurately portray the info and image of the book. Please ask any questions you have otherwise and I’ll do my best to help. The book will be shipped with utmost care. Wrapped in a poly bag, secure in wrap, and placed tightly in a box, that box will then be wrapped and placed in a larger box filled with protection. Any other shipping concerns or thoughts on insurance please message me. Thank you.
