Description: Jr. OUAM Sterling Silver Medal. Lieut. Quentin Roosevelt Council 301 Reading PA.. After much research on this medal I have some interesting facts. Council 301 was named after Lieut. Quentin Roosevelt, youngest son of President Roosevelt. He was born and raised in Washington DC. He was born Nov. 19, 1897 died July 14,1914. He died on Bastille Day. He was in WWI. He dropped out of college and joined the newly formed 1st Aero Squadron. The first air reserve unit in the nation.. He trained on Long Island at an airfield later named Roosevelt Field. Modern day the field is now a shopping mall. Quentin's plane a Nieuport 28 was shot down in aerial combat over Chamery. Now Coulonges-Cohan France. Two machine gun bullets struck him in the head. This Council is in Reading PA not far from Philadelphia where this group Jr.OUAM was formed. I have found that the Council many times were named after famous war heros.. The badge is Sterling Silver and still in very displayable condition. Also this post could be defunct now as I found no further information on this Council. Add this piece to your collection today. A great conversation piece. Thank you for looking at my auctions. Shipping $5.50 First Class Mail
