The K4S stubby antenna is only 1.7 to 2.3 inches tall depending upon frequency range with a final height tolerance of plus or minus 0.125 of an inch as measured from the bottom of the weather skirt to the top cap of the antenna. The lower 406-422 MHz frequencies will have the tallest antennas and the upper 482-512 MHz frequencies will be the shortest. The antenna covering is made of black flexible PVC and has a medium length weather skirt on the bottom to protect the 1/4-32 threaded stud connection on the radio housing. We silver solder all reworked internal antenna connections. The retuning of the antenna achieves a minimum signal gain of up to +3 dB that will effectively double your transmit and receive signal power due to the very low VSWR and excellent 50 ohm impedance match as compared to an untuned antenna. Our retuning also allows for a much smaller antenna height without any loss of performance by eliminating all of the unused space inside the antenna covering. Your antenna will have a final VSWR of 1.5:1 or less across the advertised frequency range variation choice for TRUE high performance FM radio communications range.
