Description: FINALLY we have developed a replacement lighting kit for the early GEC/Weltron 2007 with a metal internal frame (2007m) As 2007m owners probably already know it's a VERY different electrical system inside with probably only the speakers being common to both metal and plastic versions! It's also an extremely hard unit to work on as everything is hard wired (no simple removable plug-in boards on the metal version). So making our kit easy to install has been a tricky process...until now This all-in-one kit can be used to fully refurbish your GEC/Weltron 2007m lighting experience. If you have attempted changing the lights in a Weltron you know what a nightmare it is to find and order correct bulbs; even more difficult when replacing the bulbs with LEDs that match the lighting quality of the original bulbs. Also the original bulbs ran hot and during removal of the old bulb the grommet would crack or crumble adding to the restoration hassles This is a kit that replaces all of the bulbs and grommets, eliminates the trial and error of finding the appropriate replacement bulb, simplifies the wiring process and updates the bulbs to more efficient modern LEDs that are at the appropriate brightness. This kit saves a lot of time and frustration, ensuring a better lighting experience than the original Weltron when it was new! After nearly 50 years of use the bulbs, leads and mounting grommets will be fragile leading to bulb failure. These old bulbs generate a LOT of heat and are increasingly hard to find especially with the correct diameter, amperage and attached leads required by the Weltron. Our new kit replaces all 10 bulbs with specially selected low energy LEDs. There's quite a science involved as you need just the right brightness and just the right beam angle otherwise you'll end up with bright blue-white intense spots of light which are not at all suitable in the classic Weltron. We've done all the hard work for you and matched each bulb to its power supply (in the Weltron some are DC some are AC) and its purpose and apart from their crisp brightness you'd never know they were modern LEDs. And we've worked hard to ensure they are totally visually flicker free and the STEREO indicator LED has special wiring harness that makes it act just like the old incandescent bulb did (only lights when on stereo) For each of the LEDs we've commissioned a special grommet to hold it in place and replace the old cracked grommets, all grommets are unique to the 2007m version. Plus the under dial grommet is designed to accommodate both different styles of light holder fitted to the 2007m (one has round holes the other has slotted holes) To further enhance the visuals we've added some new features. The lit 'stereo' light which even with the original globes would only brightly light the 'ere' in 'stereo' now has a custom made diffuser that lights up the whole word 'stereo'... it looks very good. Also due to age many of the coloured lenses in the Weltron are a little faded, so the red stereo and recording indicator lens can look pink etc to get around this we've used colour matched LEDs that effectively restore the red lenses back to their factory colour During testing we've fitted a number of these kits and they really make the Weltron sparkle and light up like a spaceship plus the LEDs have less draw on the transformer and run totally cool Please note you will need basic soldering skills to join existing wires to each of the new kit lights. On the 2007m nothing is easy to work on but when you have exactly the right parts and VERY detailed instructions to hand it is definitely do-able and worth the effort The kit includes : 10 x LEDs of various intensity, beam angle and colours2 x tagstrip modules that convert and rectify AC volts to the wide angle diffused DC LEDs in the record compartment1 x 'stereo' diffuser/grommet10 x special grommets, tailored to each LED location12 x sections of heatshrink to protect your solder joints1 x long bladed knife to carefully remove the glued down dialglass2 x alcohol pads to help loosen and remove the dialglass glue4 x double sided sticky pads (to refit dialglass)2 x long and cut-able twist ties,to re-secure the wiring harness you made need to undo2 x nut bolt and washers1 x dial light wiring plug/finisher1 x detailed 15 page photographic (21 photos) instructions (a link to the files will be provided) IMPORTANT: this kit will ONLY fit the metal framed GEC/Weltron 2007, the later models have an internal plastic frame and you need the other kit we sell (see photo). Weltron is a mains powered machine that contains lethal voltages, so installation should be entrusted to a suitably qualified technician2. sometimes due to supply issues we may substitute some of the items shown in the photos.
