Other than a small number of them showing some minor wear, and that there is no packaging or literature with them, I call them used -- though they look unused and could be called new. There is no manufacturer's name on them and the barcode scan comes up with no results. Whether it is styrofoam or high-density foam or polystyrene, I do not know. It is a strong foam, not air filled or florist's foam, so it can be sculpted. They are sturdy! Looking at other gaming terrain foam blocks available online, I am pricing this on the low side, so this is probably a great bargain for someone in the know!
